a day to myself

My husband took the baby and went to visit his mom…

he took the dog to doggy daycare (yes we do that sometimes)…

and he left me home…

ALONE…

ALL DAY…

BY MYSELF!!!!!

First let me just get this out there; I love being a mom, I love staying home with Ellie, I love getting to see her grow and change and I get to be there every step of the way. I am so grateful I don’t have to miss out on any of that.

BUT…

Having a day to myself has been heaven on earth. I did stupid boring stuff, like vacuum and dishes and did some work from home for my dad…but then I took a shower and actually blew my hair dry.  I used to ALWAYS do that. Never was there a day that my  hair and makeup wasn’t done.  Gone are those days…seems like a waste of makeup to apply it everyday for only my daughter and husband to see. errrr, ok…I lied, i still put some makeup on most days, I just love it and it makes me feel better…but I for sure don’t put on makeup like I used to everyday.

Having the day to myself reminded me how much time I used to have before the baby…what in the world did I do with all of that time? I obviously didn’t relish my alone time like I should have.  Again, I love every second with chubby cheeks Ellie, but hot damn it is nice to sit on the couch and watch Bravo without any interruptions.  You know you like Bravo too…don’t judge!

So…to all you single or childless friends out there: enjoy your time, don’t waste a minute of it. I remember when I used to blog about being single and wanting a family…and I did, and I am so grateful that all came true…but lord knows I should have embraced all that free time while I had it!!!

And now I must go sip a glass of wine (its 5’o clock somewhere) and enjoy the last hour of peace and quite before Ellie, Joe and Reggie return.

But if I am being honest, I kind of can’t wait for the house to be full (ish) again and to be cuddling up with the family and to be reminded how thankful I am that I have such an amazing husband, such a sweet little girl and such a good puppy.  (oh and I have 2 cats…but they aren’t loud so I can drink wine in peace even if they are here)

Cheers!
